January Hugs + Duds

Last week, Mike and I decided to embark upon a cleanse… I’m generally pretty skeptical about these things, but had read an article in Outside Magazine that convinced me to give it a shot.  This particular 28-day cleanse was based on the book Clean, by Alejandro Junger.  Among other things, we had to give up caffeine, alcohol, sugar, dairy, bread/gluten, and red meat.  AGH!  Needless to say, the 28-day cleanse only lasted 3 days for us… we are still trying to keep some of the principles (I’ve only had caffeine twice in the last week and a half! wow!) but forget trying to get this midwestern girl to give up her beef.  Are you kidding me?!

So, without further ado, here are the hugs and duds for today:

HUGS:

–Cheese.  Lots of Cheese.

–MLK, Jr. Day.  We had a great event here at Christ Church for a day of service with United Way– it was awesome!

Outside Magazine.  Despite leading me astray with the cleanse, it is a pretty great mag.

DUDS:

–cleanses.  and anything asking me to abstain from eating bacon.

– bad drivers.  (There’s an abundance of them here.)

–not having any more candy.  I foolishly gave it away at the beginning of the cleanse, and am woefully regretting it now.

Oh, the cleanse!

HUGS:
Classes started! Friends are abounding! Gnocchi for lunch in my favorite dining hall!

DUDS:
Buying books and the fact that all I WANT TO DO IS WATCH DOCTOR WHO! Which is a hug and a dud because I want to watch it but have other things to do!

BIG DUD: Missing you!!

Hey lady! Heather did a cleanse that made me think of you after we talked about your “cleanse” experience. it’s a little pricey, but it breaks out to $4 a meal. have you heard of Shakeology? She loves the stuff! http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/hrvollman
especially with Mike running and biking, I thought you two might be interested. Cheers!
