I am exceptionally proud of completing this goal off of my 101 list:
98. Go to bed with all the dishes done for a week straight.
Yesterday marked the seventh day in a row that I “shined my sink” before going to bed! Ahh… it feels so nice to wake up to a clean kitchen. One thing that has really helped me with this is a website called FLYlady. She sends me daily emails about maintaining a clean (and liveable) house. She’s all about small goals, like setting a timer for 15 minutes to clean one area, and then STOP when it goes off. Believe it or not, you can get so much done by setting SMALL goals for yourself!
One of her -isms is to “shine your sink.” There is so much truth to the idea that having a clean–empty–sink helps you feel calmer and happier! She also encourages you to check your calendar before going to bed, drinking water during the day, and other things to focus your mind and keep you feeling good.
It’s easy to fall behind on keeping things tidy, but those little “baby steps” turn into serious progress after a while! Hooray for a shiny sink :)
