Welcome to Daylight Photography!

My name is Mary Day Saou, and I enjoy living in Durham, North Carolina with my boys: Mike (my husband), Noah (our son), and Wesley (our awesome Royal Bahamian Potcake). Life has been ever-changing for us, starting with college at Florida State University, to two years in the Abacos of the Bahamas, and now living in the triangle area. It's so nice to be able to experience seasons again, and we're loving life in North Carolina.

Photography has always been something I enjoyed, but it was only when my husband encouraged me to take that leap into pro-land (and ok'd the investment that goes with it!) that I dove into the wedding and portrait industry.

My #1 goal with DP is to join you in capturing those moments that make life so precious. Often it's a combination of the big events - like a wedding - and spending time with your children, or taking a walk with someone you love. I truly cherish getting to savor those rich times with each person who asks me to document an event.

Christi’s Bridals

I was so excited when my friend and co-worker, Christi, hired me to take her bridal portraits! Her wedding was such a joyful, unique event. I was honored to be a part of her big day as a musician, and doubly honored that she hired me to take some bridal portraits a few weeks before the wedding!

We headed out to Duke Gardens on a Friday afternoon to grab some shots, along with Christi’s mom (who is pretty amazing, too). It was so sweet to see the two of them interact:

In the middle of the shoot, we heard some thunder… followed by a few sprinkles… and wouldn’t you know it– the sky simply OPENED UP and POURED on us!! Christi was such a good sport, and we had a beautiful time running in the rain. This goes to show what a fun-loving, beautiful woman she is.
