moving along

I hadn’t updated on baby things since we found out we’re having a boy, so thought I’d bring you all up to date on what’s been going on with the pregnancy recently.  It’s kind of hard to believe that I’m six months pregnant already!  I had my routine checkup today, and realized that from here on out I’ll be coming every other week… well hello, third trimester!

A few things of interest that have developed in the last couple months (both good and bad):

*Simba has been kicking. A lot.  And I love every minute of it!  At this point, there are things that I’m sure aren’t feet that I feel– perhaps elbows or hands, but it’s getting stranger as he gets bigger.  We can see the kicks now, and Mike has felt them several times!  He kicked the other night when I started eating green beans… I don’t know if that means he really liked them or wanted me to stop eating them.

*Sleep has become more elusive.  Even with my delightful gifts of the Boppy pillow and wedge, I still have 4 or 5 nights out of the week where I can hardly sleep.  With people telling me to sleep now while I can, that’s not very reassuring!

*I played a game with him the other day (if it’s possible to play a game with a fetus… I believe it is).  He would kick me in one spot, then I’d push on another place on my tummy to guess where he’d kick next.  Every once in a while, I “caught” him!  Kind of like hide-and-seek in utero.

*I still can’t eat chicken.  Mike and I even went to Chik-fil-a (formerly my favorite fast food) when they were giving out free chicken biscuits on morning, and I thought I would try again… nope.

*We’re working on a labor playlist these days.  Suggestions are welcome!  (There are two, actually: upbeat and chill.)

This is the part of pregnancy that I am loving most so far– feeling baby move, better stamina, more used to the idea of actually having a baby… Just as I understood in my last trimester why people would only do this once, now I see why people do this lots of times!  I’m so thankful for this experience, and can’t wait to meet baby Saou in three more months!
