Welcome to Daylight Photography!

My name is Mary Day Saou, and I enjoy living in Durham, North Carolina with my boys: Mike (my husband), Noah (our son), and Wesley (our awesome Royal Bahamian Potcake). Life has been ever-changing for us, starting with college at Florida State University, to two years in the Abacos of the Bahamas, and now living in the triangle area. It's so nice to be able to experience seasons again, and we're loving life in North Carolina.

Photography has always been something I enjoyed, but it was only when my husband encouraged me to take that leap into pro-land (and ok'd the investment that goes with it!) that I dove into the wedding and portrait industry.

My #1 goal with DP is to join you in capturing those moments that make life so precious. Often it's a combination of the big events - like a wedding - and spending time with your children, or taking a walk with someone you love. I truly cherish getting to savor those rich times with each person who asks me to document an event.

The Day Boys

There’s a very special kind of love that an aunt has for her nephews. These precious children may not be your own, but they are so dear, so special. They carry the traits of your family and have the capacity to make you laugh and run and play. Goodness, how I love my Spencer and Brandon!

I was so lucky last week to get to watch my two nephews for a few days with the help of my parents while my brother and sister in law were celebrating 15 years of marriage (congrats, guys!!) down in Mexico. They haven’t taken a trip just the two of them in quite a while, so it was an exciting vacation for them– and such a blessing for me! Jennie asked me to do some portraits of the boys, and it was a blast. Of course, I couldn’t help but take a few of our fun times together, too…
