Portrait FAQs

If you’re getting ready for a portrait shoot, here are a few common questions that you might find yourself asking.  If you’ve got more questions, feel free to shoot me an email: mary{at}daylight-photography{dot}com.

___________

What should I wear?

These photos are meant to reflect who you are, and the uniqueness that is YOU.  So wear your favorite outfit!  Colors and textures photograph well, but if your favorite sweater happens to be gray, well, go for it!  Also keep in mind that during a shoot, you have the option to change into a second outfit.  You can take some photos with that yummy comfy sweater, and then ‘wow’ everyone with a sexy skirt!  Your kids can wear their favorite t-shirt, and then can follow up with a super-cute dress.

Do I need to bring anything?

Props can definitely make a shoot fun and interesting, but are definitely not required.  Sometimes a piece that adds a pop of color, such as a red scarf or fun umbrella on a rainy day, can add to the photos — and set you at ease, too!

After the shoot, how long until I get to see my images?

For portrait sessions, I will upload edited images to an online gallery for you to look to your heart’s content in less than two weeks!  There, you will be able to view and purchase prints, albums, and even digital files.

How long does a portrait session last?

Portrait sessions last about an hour.  The best time of day  for these sessions is the hour before sunset or after sunrise, and I love love love taking these photos outdoors.  Helloooo, natural light!
